You are watching a beautiful moment of love - a couple who have been together for 73 years is separated a week before Christmas.
Herbert Goodine, who suffers from dementia, has been moved to a new care home in New Brunswick, Canada , while his wife of 69 years Audrey will remain in a different facility 45 minutes away.
The couple have spent the last three years together at the same care home, however, as Mr Goodine's dementia worsened, the decision was made to move him following a health assessment.
Their daughter, Dianne Phillips, , said her mother stood and watched at the window as a van took her father away on Monday.
“When talking to my parents yesterday I listened to my mother weep and I could hear my father in the background.
My mother said 'Christmas is over for us now and this is the worst Christmas that we will ever have. Why could they not have waited till after the holidays.' I assured her that I tried everything to keep them together a few more days.
My parents have been together for a total of 73 years and still sleep in the same bed. I feel people need to know what a flawed system we have in place. Two words describe it 'unethical and cruel'.", said the daughter on Facebook. Her post was shared more than 17,000 times.
