Traffic wardens in Leicester have spent the past year giving parking tickets to the same car 119 times. That's a whopping £8,000 ($10,000) in fines.

It's not as if this is an expensive car, either. It's a Toyota Corolla, but unfortunately it is registered abroad and the owner can't be found.

That means that the fines just keep racking up, and they're probably at a total higher than the worth of the car by now.

The vehicle sits at the top of a list of ten cars with the highest amount of fines between them. It's quite a list, with all of the cars racking up more than £55,000 ($68,900) between them in parking tickets.

They've had 800 fines issued to them overall.

Given that the Toyota is registered outside the UK, it is not able to find it on DVLA records. That being said, they have reported the fines to the police - well, it is getting somewhat out of hand at this point.

Also on the list is a Peugeot 407 with a staggering £17,000 ($21,300) worth of fines that it has accumulated through 92 tickets over the past twelve months. The amount is so vast because of the cost of the bailiffs that are currently on the hunt for the vehicle owner.

Martin Fletcher, director of highways for Leicester City Council, said: "Parking enforcement is an important way of helping to ensure that all drivers leave their cars in places that are safe, and that show consideration for other road users.

"It is frustrating that persistent offenders are often the hardest to recover payment from, but we will use the full range of our legal powers to pursue fines.

"Where this involves the use of bailiffs, offenders can expect a substantial extra bill on top of their unpaid fines.

"Where vehicles are found to be unregistered, these will be reported to the DVLA.

"We will tow and impound vehicles in exceptional cases and will always remove illegally parked cars that are creating a dangerous obstruction."
