A cafe in Rome that charged diners 90$ just for two burgers and three coffees has been criticised for its high prices.

One of Caffe Vaticano receipt, near the Vatican, was shared on social media as the customer spoke of her bemusement at the cost.

It showed the meal cost just more than 81 euros (90 USD) including the service charge, with the two burgers costing 25 euros (28 USD) each and the coffees coming in at 8 euros (9 USD) each.

The customer said there were no prices displayed, so the cost came as a surprise when the bill was brought to their table.

“No clue how they're still getting away with their pricing,” she added.

Reaching out to other potential patrons in the Italian capital she said: “Just skip it and find another place to eat near the Vatican. There's tons!”

Others commented upon the high price while some said there should be regulation to avoid such prices being charged for tourists.

Caffe Vaticano has a Tripadvisor rating of 1.5 stars.
